
Malkia Striker Noel Murambi lands deal in Cyprus

She penned a year-long deal from Kenya Pipeline
The number of Malkia Strikers players scaling to the paid-up ranks following their individual brilliance in the World Championships continues to swell as outside hitter Noel Murambi has joined Cyprus Division A side Lemesos Volleyball Club.
Murambi who prior to her move was attached to Kenya Pipeline penned a year-long deal becoming the third Kenyan player to turn professional within a space of three months.
The experienced player was among the players who featured in the global showpiece in Netherlands where the Kenyan girls finished 19th overall out of the 24 countries.
Other players who have moved abroad courtesy of the performance thy put in Netherlands include the hard-hitting Sharon Chepchumba who joined Aris Thessaloniki in Greece and Veronicah Adhiambo who signed for Tarsus Belediyespor in Turkey.
Speaking to the Daily Nation, the former KCB player said she had watched opportunities to scale to the next phase of her career slip through her hands for failing to secure a release letter from her employers.
She however lauded coach Paul Gitau and the club for freeing her to chase her dream of playing in Europe.
“In the past I’ve had opportunities to turn professional but I couldn’t secure a release from my club. When this opportunity came up, I discussed it with my coach (Paul Gitau) and he was so positive," she told the publication.
“I wanted to try a new challenge of playing in Europe and I’m grateful to everyone at Pipeline who has made this dream come true. I’ve already had one training session with the team and I’m looking forward to playing my first game next week,” she added.
